Differences between single, High/Low and BiXenon Bulbs
Although they are produce a single Beam of Xenon Light, how the work is different. It is important to understand what you car uses and what you need.
Standard HID Bulb (aka -1 bulb)
Most cars use the standard single bulb design. This is simple a HID Bulb (our model {bulb type}-1). These are the easiest to replace and work with. They replace a single bulb and have two wires.
These are available in 880/881, H1, H3, H7, H9, H11, 9005, D2C/R/S. They can be installed in your Low, High, Fog, or any housing that will accept this bulb type and even some that don't. We have authorized installers around the country that will modify your existing housing to match the bulb and color that you want.
High/low Bulb (aka -2 bulb)
However, if your car uses a 9004, 9007, H4 or H13 bulb, than you have two choices. First choice is to use a High/Low Bulb {our model {bulb}-2}. The bulbs comes with one primary Xenon bulb and one Halogen bulb. The Halogen bulb is used for your high beam only and is only used where the state requires a high beam to pass inspection. Nothing more.
Note: the High portion of the High/Low bulb is NOT used for high beam driving as it will never point straight ahead. Its just for passing inspection.
These bulbs come with 3-4 wires, 2 for each bulb. it maybe necessary to splice the Halogen wires so that you get power to the high beam. WARNING never splice your bulbs built a connection and splice that. Modifying your bulb will result in voiding your warranty with HIDFoglight.com and it may be exrtemly dangerous.
High/Low bulbs come in H4, H13, 9004, 9007. They are just not produced in any other bulb type.
These bulbs are usually only used in cars since they replace two existing bulbs. But we have had our authorized installers install these in various external housings as well.
BiXenon Bulbs ( aka -3 bulb)
If you need your high beam to work properly than you're last choice is to go with a BiXenon (our model {bulb-3}) which gives you both High and Low in Xenon. This high beam will work correctly and will point where you tell it to. BiXenon bulbs usually come with 3 wires per bulb. They also come with a control unit that handles the low vs high beam. The bulb is actually blocked so that the beam is directed down while in low-mode. When the car's electronics are engaged and the high beam is selected a magnet moves the bulb so that it is no longer blocked and you get "high" beam.
The BiXenon bulbs, as per the High/Low bulb are only available in: H4, H13, 9004 and 9007 bulb types. As you can see to the right, the base of the bulb is longer by about an inch. Please make sure you have the clerance. Also note that the bulb contains a small magnet keep it away from other electronics before installing.
